It was pretty funny how MTV changed its nominating process last year to stop Twilight from dominating these awards (they stopped letting the audience vote for nominees from a longlist on their website), but it still won the only two categories it was up for. And no, I don't know why I  know this.

You're right. I think Tim Curry as the mean concierge is the only element of the second film that doesn't have an equivalent in its predecessor. Otherwise it's probably the most extreme version of the Hollywood "the same… but more!" sequel formula there is. Still, didn't mind it as a kid. It felt like an epic…
