So, the characters are as flat as that screenshot indicates?

But the first two seasons are really lame for the most part. They should have probably started with Chinpokomon, which is the show's first great episode.

One thing that remained consistent was that Ross and Monica were very believable as brother and sister. In the beginning they were the most reasonable characters, in the end the most unhinged ones.

The downfall of Ross began with the season 5 episode where someone at work eats his sandwich and he goes nuts over it… which is actually really funny. But unfortunately that's when they decided he should be a crazy punching bag all the time.

Agreed. BTW, the Ursula situation was interesting in that they established Phoebe as a twin to create a link with Mad About You, but whenever Ursula appeared on Friends, she was pretty much a different character than on that show (which I haven't seen that much of, admittedly). MAY's Ursula was basically an even

This show's greatest asset was the chemistry between all six actors, which is why it's disappointing that they often split them up in groups of two for each episode. Generally, the more of them were in one story, the funnier it was, and the best ones were when all of them were together (the football episode is another

Urgh. If "catering to shipping fans by winking at the main characters' relationship being homoromantic while never, ever actually going through with it" is the pinnacle of contemporary gay TV, it's looking pretty fucking dire.

Sorry, Nathan, but whatever you write won't be able to live up to A.O. Scott's review. It utterly broke him.

I like how Hansel is pronounced "Haahnsel" in the film to make it sound more German, when the actual German name "Hänsel" sounds like what an English speaker would pronounce Hansel like if he'd never heard the name before.

Michelle Maclaren is such a fantastic director. I hope she breaks into film at some point.
