Then Amy needs better guests because that pod, which I counted among my favorites, has become a snooze fest.

I read Forty Lashes Less One just because Tarantino optioned it. Great early western from Leonard that would make a great film. If he had to make another Western, I wish he made that instead of Hateful Eight.

Big fan of "80s All Over" in which the hosts break down the films released every month of the 1980s. They are up to August 81 right now. Well paced, insightful and generally awesome. Devin might be a vile human being, but "The Canon" and Amy Nicholson need him back.

Check out Bone Tomahawk for an outstanding horror western hybrid. Great cast led by Kurt Russell.

Replicant. Yet another Ringo Lam film. He did incredible work with Van Damme. See Maximum Risk.

You are 100% correct. Those films are insane. John Hyams needs to get called up to big budget action. PBut Enemies Closer has a top 5 all time Van Damme performance. Maybe JCVD should only work with the Hyams family?

Enemies Closer is my favorite DTV Van Damme. He and Peter Hyams are a great team. Also, Hyams is known for non traditional casting choices that work (Hines and Crystal in Running Scared, Frances Sternhagen in Outland).

One 2003 omission that deserves recognition: Van Damme's In Hell.
By no means a classic, but Ringo Lam got an excellent performance out of Van Damme and the fights are very brutal.
As far as DTV goes, Van Damme is damn near Oscar caliber and he has never been the same since.
Even if it's DTV, he's rarely lazy and

John Singleton should be kept away from action franchises. Shaft? 2 Fast 2 Furious? No thank you.

She is wildly miscast. An all time pantheon miscasting.

As a Bostonian I simply cannot agree. Maybe the best Boston film of all time as it weaves so many local touches into the film without being ridiculous, unlike Ted or The Heat. William Monaghan's script does not get enough credit. Nicholson being Nicholson is the biggest flaw. Scorsese needed to reign his ass in.

Yes. And Gary Cherone era VH just to add insult to injury. I believe it was Without You off VH III.

Gap ad for khakis. No bullshit.

Without Remorse was in the cards at one point in the late 90s.

Should have been Kurt Russell right from the beginning. See Executive Decision for a taste of what might have been.

Hell yes

Had a troubled production. Peter Hyams was a last minute replacement for a music video director. The script was also not retooled to better fit Arnold's limited range.

All hail Franka Potente, the secret star of Bourne Identity. As great as Damon is, Potente grounds the film in reality and helps humanize the Bourne character. And she rules in Run Lola Run.

100%!! These films should be recognized to demonstrate that the action genre is actually thriving on DTV. Someone give John Hyams a bigger budget already!!!

Statham originally had the Ice Cube role but the studio insisted on a bigger name. Carpenter was the first Hollywood director to see his action star chops. Plus, Pam Grier!
