Did anyone else find it a bit odd that the Machine was still using "Ernest Thornhill" to contact Harper? Samaritan's agents have dealt with the Thornhill alias before (back when they were still Decima), so isn't using it kind of like waving a flag at them? I realize that it could be part of the Machine's plans, but if

Oh god, there was SO much to love about this episode.
First of all, the fact that Katheryn Winnick was in it and got to show off her latent badassery was just awesome. I want to say that it would be great for her to join the team, but then I would be worried that something horrible will happen to Lagertha, and I don't

Oh, I am SO glad someone referenced this. I couldn't help but wonder how Alex would have reacted to Doctor Beefcake Divorcee's psychoanalysis, especially considering that Underwood was playing the polar opposite of him tonight. Also, can Gabriel Byrne please, please, please be on this show? This season has been on

Yes, it was strange…
Perhaps even HUGO Strange. *Claps forehead* Guys! I've finally figured out what to do with Babs!
-Bruno Heller (pretty goddamn soon).

Except people actually like Britta.

Things I liked about this episode:
Actual peril in Wayne Manor (courtesy of Discount Eddie Marsan).
Joker fakeout.
The one-off characters, esp. the gang (this one surprised me, actually)
Shadowy board members being shadowy.
Lack of Nygma/ Kringle/ Montoya/ any badly handled romantic subplots.
Catgirl cattiness.

I believe it was Thursday, September 22 2011. You're welcome.

Was anyone elses first thought that Fresh Ninja was referring to Alistair Wesley from the lesbian doctor episode? This guy, if you can't remember.

I would pay to see lil' Reese running around the schoolyard beating the shit out of bullies. In fact…
*Starts writing spin-off script for cbs executives/ jonathan nolan*

Yes, well done, Janet…
How do you feel about being my search monkey full-time?

*Raises hand so high that arm pops out of socket*.
Yes! I thought I was the only one who knew or cared about this. I still prefer Amy in the role but Rachel would have made a great Root too.

Hell yeah, Fusco's excellent. Kevin Chapman's entire career is the definition of underrated. Also, if there's any justice in the world, "If-Then-Else" will at least be up for one "outstanding writing in a dramatic series" award.

No, I'm saying that if Sarah Shahi hadn't gotten pregnant, Reese would have been six feet under and not in some non-descript medical facility somewhere.
I'm basing this on an interview with Greg Plageman and the other EP's that I can't find the link for any more . But I remember them saying something along the lines of

Yes, but in that world Michael Emerson would have drowned in a tidal wave of little golden statues long before season 4.

Finally, we get a goddamn Root and Reese pair up, and (surprise, surprise), their chemistry is through the fucking roof. It still amazes me that this is the first episode since the season 1 finale that has focused on those two awesomely awesomeing their way through wave after wave of faceless goons.

I would have loved it if they turned Root, Daizo, Casey and Greenfield into a spinoff, but the chances of that seem pretty slim now.
And by "who she really was" I meant her backstory and such. I.e. What happened with her friend Hannah, the pedophile and the librarian lady. Zoe only discovered that "Caroline Turing"

Really missing Sarah Shahi this week. I'm honestly feeling the loss more than with Carter, considering that by the time they killed Carter she had basically alienated herself from the rest of the team. I know she had good reason, but I always found that disconnect between what Carter was up to and the larger picture

Well, I'm not sure about "gotta do it", but I suppose I can accept that shaw has changed enough to make this kind of a sacrifice. The sacrifice itself isn't exactly the most secure option if you really think about it though. What if she had been riddled with bullets before she could make it to the button? What if Root

LOL, thanks, but I'm considering changing it to "Banana-Nut Crunch". Fusco + foodstuffs + Root = hilarity.
In regards to your comment about the elevator doors, they could have always just thrown an empty pistol and had shaw and/ or fusco lay down some choice cover fire while the doors close. As for the grenade, it

Actually, I've been thinking about the Hanna/ Root relationship, and it makes me wonder if her relationship with Shaw isn't modelled on, erm, "prior experience".
Frankly, I would prefer it if that wasn't the case, but I like that the writers were clever enough to keep it ambiguous.
