I'd put No Country in there, except I've almost come to think of that as more Cormac McCarthy's movie than the Coen brothers'. The second half of S2 could be one of the best story arcs in any TV show ever. In the space of one episode, the show goes from pretty good to HOLY SHIT THIS IS SO GOOD. I love the string rendition of "YMCA". The ending is a little heavy-handed, but it makes its point. And yes, that scene with Davison telling his partner that he doesn't have to be scared of death is luminous.
