I read somewhere that the first half of season one all takes place in one town. From what I remember in the comic, they were in a car heading somewhere when the series started and Jesse's origins were told through flashbacks. It doesn't seem like they're going to do that, but we'll see.

It did omit the Under the Hood excerpts and newspaper articles but other than the giant space octopus changing it was pretty much beat for beat the actual comic. The Pirate Story was added on the DVD.
