"Oh and the Democratic Party of today is probably closer to the left of Europe too. :D"
Fair enough. I did always feel that it had some plot issues, but I could never quite put my finger on what exactly bothered me.
They were killing a lot more people than just Jews. Believe me, there's plenty of people they could continue purging over the decades. Which is just…so gross to say.
You're describing The Man In The High Castle. So yes, it exists, and it's a fantastic show.
It's depicted as going on in full effect. There's one scene in particular where ash starts falling and a sheriff sighs and says that the 'local hospital is burning gypsies and cripples again' or something along those lines. There's gassing, mass graves, medical checks to weed out the unpure, and one of the bigger…
Wait, Brian Wood has a history of sexual harassment?! Oh man he's one of my favourite comic writers :(
Not if instant gratification is seen as a good thing, which it seems to be. It would be if instant gratification is seen as a vice. But it ain't, it's the status quo.
"This new HBO show is being created and run by two white guys "
Except that two of the showrunners (because these two aren't the only ones) are coloured, so, nah. Can people for once look deeper than the surface, please?
Yes you did. You called the show bad, but now you're explaining you simply have no interest in the premise and even calling it decent on a conceptual level. Don't you see the contradiction in that latter part? I'm not struggling to understand anything, I can quote you or screencap you or whatever you like, but your…
If you don't find the premise appealing; fine. But that doesn't make it a bad show/book. There's quite a bit of difference between having no interest in the premise and it being bad, as you said that 'you don't even watch the handmaid's tale because it's that bad.' Don't equate personal taste with quality.
The Handmaid's Tale book is one of the foremost works of feminist sci-fi, and the TV show treats its source material with respect and reverence. We're not watching a TV show about a tyrannical government dictating women's lives, we're watching a TV show about women trying to break away from a tyrannical government…
Stale? Can you name a bunch of "Confederacy won" TV shows then? And who says their nebulously named 'Third Civil War' won't be exactly about such an armed insurrection? How about we wait 'till we actually see a pilot before shitting all over this?
There's no ground yet to assume that it'll trivialise it. Stop building air castles and judge whether it'll suck or not once we have an episode or three in our hands (or even just a pilot).
"Creating shows like this to salt the earth against any remaining pride in southern white self seems like killing a fly with a sledgehammer. "
Or how about you actually wait and see how they handle this? Christ we know almost nothing about this outside of a rough outline and backstory for the universe. That's it. Maybe it's cringe-worthy and terrible, maybe it subverts everyone's expectations.
If you're already taking the time to visit some European countries from America I doubt taking a few hours extra on your flight is the issue.
I don't even like PewDiePie, but that dude ain't an anti-Semite. Just a dude with a shitty sense of humour.
At least he was an artist though, and hopefully didn't bother his neighbours like this guy. This dude's entire shtick is annoying people and acting 'cool'.
Galaxy 1 and 2 (well, and Metroid Prime 3) I why I regret never having a Wii. Now there's a magical couple of games I would adore to play. I'm glad I jumped on the Nintendo train again with the Switch, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Odyssey is ace. I'd hate for the first Mario game I can play since Sunshine to…
