What a fantastic article! Airplane! was always a funny film to me, but recently since it's been on Netflix streaming, I've revisited it several times over the last year or so. It's just such a tight, funny film. You can go through and watch the whole thing, or just as easily put it on in the background since you're

For an 80% cut of the profits I'll let you have the name for free!

I thought he threw the knife into her back. Either way that's still stabbing with distance in between.

Ahh and now begins John Locke's classic Blow Up Everything Useful on the Island tour of '04! What a jerk!

That's a great theory. I never even considered it even on re-watch knowing what MIB could do. Especially when you had a philosophers name…oh well Rousseau never got MIB-ified, she just got shot in the back :(

Treat yo self…to this episode of the web series that does just that :)

If anyone could brighten up heart of the island, or anything for that matter, it would be Hugo for sure. Just hope he doesn't let Ben near it…
I also wonder if the smoke monster coming out of the source is what dims the light a bit, like a portion of it leaves the source with Smokey.

Yeah that stuff is pretty tough to parse, and silentpunning's suggestion that the rules are just a matter of belief rather than a tangible force is the only way I can really see to fully square it. But I will say that in the case of MIB getting smokified by his brother that Jacob doesn't actually kill MIB. He

You may be right silent (very sad indeed!). In fact Darlton pointed out in the commentary for "Across the Sea" that the Source light is much brighter in the Mother/MIB/Jacob time period than when we see it in "The End". So the light is still on, but it's fading regardless of the cork or whatever.

I'm with you on this one, especially knowing that it doesn't factor into the game again after the intro. It feels more or less like the designers wanting to say up front that Hotline Miami 2 was going to pushing for the edge!! Because sexual violence is always mad edgy, and is essentially the only taboo they didn't

Hmm I do really like the Hellmouth comparison. As a Buffy fan, I'm disappointed I never saw the Island as analogues to the Hellmouth, but it defiantly fits. I also like the idea of the Island augmenting the Good vs. Evil conflict, but only as a neutral place of power without any moral stakes, because after all

As far as who enforces this rule that MIB can't harm his brother or the candidates, I still have some trouble.

I'd argue that the peak comes in the *SPOILERS* Season 3 finale when Jack unloads on Ben after he has Jin, Bernard, and Sayid fake exacuted on the beach. Now that is a beat down for the ages!

Shit, what a loss.

I'd like to add a vote for Persona 4. It came out on PS2 about 2 years after the PS3 launched in the US, and it's one of the best games on the system for my money. Gotta love those late gen Atlus releases!

"Hey, look! The FBI Light Opera Society sings the Complete Gilbert and Sullivan!”

Nevermind, I found the real gem from this episode, this is an all time favorite:

I was going to search and find some obscure ones, but this is moving too fast. Off the top of my head two from "The PTA Disbands":

WTF is with The Legend of Korra getting left out in the cold once again!
