I'm laughing at the fact that Le Pen lost not only to an actual candidate, but to literal thin air as well.

The guy who fought a wrestler on both a TV show and at an actual wrestling event. (He fought Cody Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam in 2015; Cody would later guest star on Arrow as a villain that the title character fought this season)
The beginning does open with news of martial law being enacted, which could mean the rallying people were dealt with and Ward possibly perishing there in trying to defend them.
I'd just chalk that up to the computer simulation nature of the Framework coming into play. Kinda like how Coulson got shot multiple times, yet was none the worse for wear when returning to reality.
Frankly, it would be a real asshole move on Daisy's part if she forced Mack to come through the gateway without taking into consideration his reactions.
Agent Died-Off-Screen?
So, today's Secret Empire #1 opens with a scene at a school that is very reminiscent of the one we got in 4x16 with teacher Coulson teaching Hydra's version of history. Just something interesting to note, given that this current arc for the show has reminded a lot of people (myself included) of Secret Empire.
They're both on the SHIELD jet as opposed to the Superior's base.
Someone told me that he presumably died when he was trying to keep Hydra at bay during Coulson's "we can all be patriots" speech.
The show's previews never blatantly spoil a character death (the whole "who will die?" thing from S3 excepted).
"Going somewhere?" he'll say before sticking a shotgun axe in her back as Ghost Rider flays Aida to death.
Apparently, he died off-screen or something, from what I'm hearing.
Next thing y'know, she'll have her own quaking powers.
I do wonder if the next two episodes will still use the Hydra title cards now that they're out of the Framework.
This episode was so good, I was pissed that we didn't get the usual post-eagle (post-Hydra skull?) scene like we typically do. I wanted to see more, dammit.
The initial tweet from the SHIELD account wasn't exactly subtle with it, either. (Said tweet was mentioning how the weather was going to be hotter soon, and given Ghost Rider's predilection for fire, one could put two-and-two together to figure out what was being hinted)
On a sidenote, I absolutely love the title they've used for the Supergirl S2 finale. I won't spoil it here so that people can look it up, but it's perfect.
To be fair, the SHIELD Twitter did tease his return and news about his return wasn't exactly kept a secret.
Guardians preview was the scene when the team first meet Papa Quill, aka Ego.
