Lin seems way overqualified for this project, and as a result this will 100% be better than the terrible original. Clearly Kevin Hart is going to be stepping into the Murray role, right?

maher has got to be one of the least funny comedians i've ever seen

Really liked that clip, surprised I haven't heard of or seen this movie as it is right up my alley. Does the filmmaker have any well known influences?

Aliens

Glad to see these guys get some publicity, and have nothing else to add! Just want to leave a comment because I know that's a factor in judging how much interest is generated in these articles and I hope to see more coverage of WHM

Cannonball!

Houseguest is an incredible episode. I loved that they called attention to the whole "mickey mouse mafia" trope that was so weirdly prevalent in 90's family films.

$156 million on a $60 million budget. They recouped their investment and probably made a little profit too which isn't a bad return, although they were obviously hoping for more. The good news is this was a very entertaining, well done family movie. It doesn't surprise me it's doing well in the home market and

Yeah the FOTs are really grating

Exactly. This kind of gets to the point that Scharpling's best show persona is a character. The fact that anyone breaks down anything he says as a reflection of how he actually feels is nuts.

I mean, I think it's hilarious, but you're entitled to like whatever you want. I was only pointing it out because Scharpling is a pretty big critic of internet podcasting so your joke fell kind of flat. He's essentially said your exact quote himself many times, and currently has a reoccurring bit on his show titled

Except that Scharpling doesn't actually think the clarinet is a stupid instrument.

It definitely is tongue in cheek. As he explained to Marc Maron during their interview, his Best Show persona is a character of sorts, heavily influenced by the prickly radio personalities he listened to growing up. I think you only need to check out his bits with Wurster to know he's not "self-serious."

Except this bit came from a live radio show, not internet podcasting

He's the villain of Hollywood Handbook

Scharpling recorded this in 2006. No idea why AV Club is getting around to it now.

This is a classic bit. I wonder why it's making the rounds again now.

I Spit on your Grave

He's had top billing on 4 or 5 fairly solid hits. The "added value" element he brings to comedies (the other guys, ted, daddy's home) also can't be ignored. I'll begrudgingly grant him movie star status.

I guess since it's getting a sequel it can't qualify as a future forgotbuster. This was such a bland, unmemorable movie.
