It's that complaining should be done… better. Not whining or looking for upvotes on reddit. But first selecting the right issues, the biggest ones. Then discussions (and a level of compromise to opponents) sending letters to MPs, political campaigning, petitions, and especially voting.

I dunno, it's not like people work with finance or stocks or anything. We're all just turnip farmers over here.

An inability to prioritise important fights has hurt the left so much this year. FWIW I think the note shouldn't have used animal products.

I kinda think that there's only so much you can complain before people get tired of listening - which is exactly the point we reached this year.

Well, spoiler alert, but not everyone thinks slaughtering animals and using their materials is wrong.

The whole situation is horrible. But here are my proposed solutions:

It's only the insults that are, though.

Like so many insults, it's clearly projection.

I'm not 100% on these but here are a few things I've heard:

I wouldn't mind a simple 'yes' or 'no' or 'DTMFA' if there was a few sentences explaining why he came to that conclusion. Cos otherwise it's not so much advice as it is a command.

Did he say it to your face? Like, in front of everyone? If he did, well, by the sound of things he's already made himself the villain, while you and your boyfriend seem the reasonable type. I think rising to what could be provocation would be a bad idea: try to be civil - at the very least if you can't get on you can

If anything Trump is the Machiavellian one, except I don't think he even wants the headache of actually being President.

I absolutely agree with the idea of Trump as a cipher.

Well, the thing about Punk is it's for losers. Outcasts. People who are so alienated from the system that they want to do nothing more than smash it and mock it. Can't get a job, can't get a house, can't get laid, well, you start hating the world for it.

I think that if you only write seriously for one month of the year then you aren't a writer looking to become professional or match the output of a guy like Wells.

Maybe you do, but your partner certainly doesn't. But, for a lot of people, that's all that matters.

Children.

The start, about the political arguments, is so annoying to me. I'm not a republican: I'm not even American, but if I was I'd be ashamed of how the election was won: false scandals, innuendo, bluster, memes and shitposting. Not policy, or honest campaigning. So I find it very hypocritical for those very same

It's hard to clean by hand or by dishwasher. The convenience is a selling point but it's just not true.

There's a difference between someone who is so impoverished that they can't even afford the time or money to eat well and someone who is too lazy to cook decent meals. My mother worked horrible hours in a shitty job and raised my (big) family alone, so I know it, I lived it. Poverty's a genuine tragedy, and I don't
