It's a bit harder to track down, but Civilization Phase III is even better on those terms. It was, I think, the last album he ever finished and the one that demonstrated how well he'd mastered the Synclavier. It's also dark as fuck: https://www.youtube.com/wat…

I know that's a reference BUT I actually did see Ike Willis live on my 18th birthday (though not for free, sadly). When I met him afterwards he was very friendly and signed some albums and had a mouthful of cheese the entire time I was talking to him.

Chunga's Revenge is alright, but yeah, it's all downhill from there.

They made me take off my top!

THE DAY BEFORE
THAT I WAS WED
SHE WENT UPSTAIRS
AND Setc.

It's a sad day when the AV Club comments section is almost as bad as the rest of the internet.

What? It was mostly AV Club regulars defending her when these comments threads started and now it's mostly people taking the opposite stance.

Bless you!

I can understand having a problem with (1), but (2) seems like such a weird thing to get hung up on. Like… if she did get raped multiple times and lied about it, the fact that she'd been raped multiple times in the first place would still be the thing that I'd be most bummed out about in all this.

Okay, seriously, what the fuck is your problem? I don't want to just dismiss whatever valid points you may have brought up, but you're honestly being such a belligerent asshole about this that I'm finding it really hard to want engage with you and hear you out.

She really doesn't deserve to have her life ruined over this.

Okay sorry, misread the tone of your post. Yeah, Muppets Tonight was great, eh? I don't know what the general consensus among fans is - I get the impression that it's less disliked and more just largely forgotten, which is a damn shame.

Has it? Thank goodness. I wouldn't say it's great or anything, but there are so many things he's done that are more worthy of the eternal punchline status that Tin Machine seems to have gotten.

Some of his '90s albums are pretty good, honestly. I'd recommend The Buddha Of Suburbia and 1. Outside as possible post-Scary Monsters starting points.

To be fair, the first Tin Machine album could use a bit of a reappraisal, if only because the guitarwork is freakin' nifty.

I'm pretty stoked on this. Dark, brooding Bowie is my favorite Bowie.

The perennial choice for "most underrated Bowie album" by Bowie snobs.

I'm pretty sure pursuing a stand-up comedy career is the stage of grief between depression and acceptance.

"Do you think they'll ever find Iron Man's head?"

I cried at the movie too. I'd also just been through the painful breakup of my first real long-term relationship, so I was already feeling exceptionally fragile.
