I love how something so iconic just existed so quickly and that was it. I love stories about genius striking so perfectly like that, especially in the arts, when sometimes it seems great things need to be a slog (physically, emotionally) to become perfect. Some things just *are*, first go around.

Also, women die/are killed all the time in movies to act as this catalyst as well. So glad the ladiez could help out by existing and then experiencing unthinkable agony so the main dude can do AWESOME SHIT.

I always get choked up when he gets to the part where he sings as the victim's mother,

Magic is a fantastic album.
I never got into Springsteen and was only vaguely aware of some of his hits when he was touring through Hamilton, Ontario (a factory/manufacturing city), promoting 'Magic'. I saw an article about it in a newspaper and it occurred to me that maybe i should check these guys out before it's

Well, whatever it is, i never thought i'd say this but damn, Meatloaf is lookin' good these days (both the guy and the food item).

I'm not really able to adequately answer the first question (it's way too complicated, sorry dude) but the second one?

I'm not super into cars - never even owned one - but i *loved* the original Top Gear, just because the hosts were entertaining, the cars were cool and their adventures (no matter how staged) were exciting. Waiting to see what the Amazon version comes up with. I don't have any interest watching the LeBlanc version.

To be fair though, she was almost unrecognizable as Amy's boss.

'Canadian Candian's Candy'

Yeah, our Raptors ('dance') team and CFL have cheerleaders. No one cares about Canadian football but people in Saskatchewan though. :P

Yeah, all of the popular girls in my highschool were popular because they also played sports.

Cheerleaders aren't really a thing here either. It's definitely more of an American thing.

I know she's out now, just when she had her show i don't think she was out then so i tend to forget about it in the public sphere.

Which is why when they show gay people in commercials/the media, it's mostly always some handsome gay male couple. The lesbians…well…they have Ellen and that's about it.

It's a 'luxury' in the west for many (not all! it's a privilege) for women to have some sort of choice as to what field they want to work in. I've read before (but can't remember where) that more often women than men tend to choose work that suits their personal interests for personal fulfillment reasons (wanting to

They may call him 'Ho-Mu'!

A Single Man was a beautiful movie - the opening with Colin Firth's voiceover of him starting the day and missing his dead partner always makes me cry, the pain on his face and in his voice. Also it's impeccably shot/designed (not surprising really if you're into Tom Ford's fashion aesthetic).

This is actually the very reason Canada was looking for the wreckage of the Terror and Erebus in the first place (the Arctic Research Foundation is run by Jim Basillie, the founder of the Canadian company RIM - now Blackberry). Canada wants the definitive rights to the Northwest Passage to control the shipping now

Tim Gunn is the voice of reason that's really needed in a show on fashion. There is so much bullshit and posturing and drama and politics in that field and he anchors it with his critiques and credibility. In my opinion, he's the one holding the show together.
