To be fair, the CW has done a good job of having light-hearted heroes - Flash and Supergirl are both sweet and innocent as apple pie.

I suspect it's out of some misguided idea that competent people in his administration will legitimise it. You know, as if winning the election according to the electoral rules didn't already legitimise it.

The problem is that competent people generally don't like to associate themselves with someone who will both ignore advice and refuse to do any work himself, overrule any decision he doesn't like, and then blame everyone around him for the shitstorm he creates.
