"Are you implying the early church leaders only believed in Jesus because of the promise of a personal reward in the afterlife? That sounds selfish, craven, and flatly like the opposite of Jesus' teachings."

It does because why would a group of people risk their lives to embellish something to gain converts for no other reason than to spread a lie? What would be the end goal of risking your life to start something that has no earthly personal payoff?

What I mean is, how would they personally gain by getting converts? They were risking life and limb to spread the word to begin with.

Out of curiosity, what did you think the early church would gain by "embellishing to sell potential converts"?

Well, the reasons people generally say that "Jesus is a good guy" are based on the Gospels. So yeah, obviously if you believe that the Gospels are not historically accurate, then it's a moot point. If this is the case, you may not believe any historical figures are real based on written accounts.

It can be argued that If you are not a Christian, you should not believe Jesus was just "cool" or "a good guy". C.S. Lewis argued (an age old argument) that you either
1: Believe Jesus is who he said he was, the Son of God and savior of humanity.
    2. Believe he was a lunatic
    3. Believe he was a liar

Mine is the scene in The Matrix where Cypher is meeting with Agent Smith and eating the steak:

HEY! I worked at a Blockbuster! And if you don't like it, you don't have to shop there! (Said in Jim Gaffigan voice).
I worked there when I was 18 and actually managed to not like Limp Bizkit. It was the easiest job of all time. You put the movies behind the boxes and you get free movie and game rentals a week

I believe what you meant was, "Welp, see ya later".

I was annoyed by Skyler on Breaking Bad but I always thought it was due to the writing for her character. She was always grumpy and non-responsive when she was upset. I thought her acting was fine.

    MoPop eh?

Ha! Just posted my comment about singing Golden Slumbers to my daughter (she's 17 months) and scrolled down and saw your comment. I wonder how many Beatles fans sing that song to their children at night.

Golden Slumbers is one of my favorite songs of all time. I sing it to my daughter every night before she goes to sleep.
This is a good list, but mine would've included, "She said, She said", "I'm Looking Through You", "Got to Get You Into My Life", and "Fixing A Hole".
