Yeah, I've got a feeling certain groups of people have known this for way longer than I have.

When I said "isn't for you" I just meant your personal dislike of Jones. I'm a white man, so I can't say, all I can say is that the woman I was with, who is also black, enjoyed her character. She did agree with you in that she was a little disappointed she wasn't a scientist, but glad she was a historian. But she's

The part was written for McCarthy but Feig's comedy is pretty heavy on ad-libbing and he tends to let his actors run with the script dialogue as they want to. That's been a feature of his films since Bridesmaids, which you can see in the out-takes.

I don't usually watch SNL, I just like Leslie Jones fine and caught a few of her sketches on YT before I did my own write up on the movie.
But yeah, I guess 76% of critics must be massive SNL fans, including all the British ones. Or paid by Sony. Whichever desperate theory you want to clutch at today.

Look, all I can say is you really need to have actually seen the movie before we can have this conversation, otherwise I'll be here talking about what is in the movie and you will be there talking about what you think is in it.
If you still feel the same afterwards, I would understand, but until then there's really

She doesn't 'play' anyone. That IS her. You're basically calling who she is as a human being an offensive stereotype, which, what??

Oh buddy I feel that. Yep. It's been pretty soul-sucking honestly (I can't imagine how the movie's cast and crew have been feeling!) and a community that did feel so welcoming and innocent for a while, has really showed the worst it has to offer the last couple of years, and that worst has been totally and

I'm going to assume you haven't actually seen the movie if you think that's the case. Leslie Jones was wonderful, as she is on SNL, and the character of Patty was pretty much Leslie Jones as she is in real life, warm and larger than life personality.
Would it have been good to see a black female scientist? Absolutely.

I was in England for UK release and went with a good female friend of mine. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie as the solid, very fun and funny comedy it was, but talking about it with her over dinner it was clear she had extra levels to enjoy it on.
She was pretty giddy when we left the theater and mentioned both Mad Max

Neither of those thing happened or are ever going to, obviously. So what point were you trying to make exactly?

Progress with Marvel always feel like trying to push a very reluctant Elephant up a steep incline. Occasionally it might take a few steps, but then it sits back down on its fat ass and you're left pushing again.

Shouldn't that be "a tunafish sandwich" and "a glass of Corona"?

8 is definitely not done. The actors are still posting videos and photos of them on set and they've just started filming in New York.

See Marvel's business model.

Charlize Theron never plays forgettable characters. She'll make it work with epic scenery chewage, like she did in Snow White, except this time she'll have lots of guns.

Yes, but only Charlize gets it spelt with an 'I'!

I'm all for it. If we leave it up to Miller it might be another 30 years before we get a Furiosa movie. Maybe Fast and Furious can warp us there.

The Fast movies are not known for their subtlety. Why start now?

This franchise's beautiful ridiculousness is now only matched by its ridiculously beautiful new cast.
