My little cupcake, it clearly offends your delicate sensibilities that the creators of a show might have the decency and maturity and good sense to heed and consider public response to depictions of rape in said show.
I know. Of all the things to go the The Wall about, its the possibility that there'll be fewer depictions of rape?
And you're getting all bothered because your beloved video games and HBO shows might portray women in a different light, might not be quite so heavy on the rape.
Why would one cite "historical accuracy" to defend a rape scene? Rape happens, and a lot, right now. It does not beggar belief that it happened in the past. Is the "historical accuracy" meant to carry some sort of 'higher' justification than, 'well, women get raped, don't they?'?
Nor does the rape.
"Sorry if this is a personal question, but why are you so obsessed with rape, but not any other kind of violence?"
"but….but….I have to see the rape. If I can't see the rape I'll just quit watching now. I'm telling you, concern and criticism about the depiction of rape in tv shows is the last acceptable prejudice. How on earth will we know its a brutal world if we don't see the rape? We HAVE to see the rape."
Would you watch three episodes dedicated to playing out a night in the life of Pycelle? Much of it he's asleep, snorting and snoring and farting his way through the night. Occasionally he wakes to use his chamber pot. He might wake for a bit, and stare at the ceiling, though we can;t see this too well as it's…
I do watch it. I'm rewatching it at the moment. About to start on Season 4.
I don't expect payback in GoT.
It is not cowardice - it is decency.
Do we see every single thing the characters do? Obviously not - see my point above.
There's something terribly poignant about usernames that have (presumably) the year of their registration in them.
That 'historically accurate' defence pisses me off.
You: Beastiality, right.
"The actors on this show can do some really good work when they don't make them speak."
It would be interesting if the wolf didn't kill because Morgan was (to some degree) right, but I figured he was smart enough to not waste bullets on unarmed people when there's a bunch of flesh-tearing walkers outside. If he wanted to start hacking at them, he's got to drop his hostage/shield and, even when he's the…
"my neighbor's mom is making $98 HOURLY on the internet"
I liked the cold open. They generally do very good cold opens, not least because they don't involve the characters saying much. Just some nice visual storytelling. But then they have to start talking, and the plot gears crank and grind into action, and it all gets a bit unwieldy.
