I didn't know Philip K. Dick wrote the screenplay for that movie until now. But in retrospect it makes perfect sense.

I picked up "Carsick" from the library a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I love the way it's constructed, starting with the fantasy and ending with reality. Will have to read Role Models next.

I loved anything grape as a kid, so Alexander the Grape was a staple. But my favorite Ferrara Pan candy is obviously Boston Baked Beans, which I still enjoy occasionally.

True, but anyplace that serves that kind of pizza doesn't deserve to be in business. It's just bad cooking, and validates my opinion that Chicago is great if you want an Italian beef sandwich dipped in grease or a deep-fried slab of cheese set on fire, but they can't prepare vegetables. I mean, you don't put raw

But as long as I went through all the effort of scrolling through the arguments about pizza I'll waste your time with a couple more Ferrara Pan anecdotes:
1) Lemonheads used to be good. They were more like lemon drops; hard lemon candy with a powdery, citrusy-bitter coating. They switched over to the more chewy,

Man, I'm dumb.

I have both a correction and a fond memory. If Lemonheads were indeed invented in 1962, I'm absolutely certain that Red Hots were not invented "three decades later". I grew up just a couple streets away from the Ferrara Pan candy factory in River Forest in the 70's, and often the air outside was an intense, cloying

Netflix presents the Shazam / Isis Hour, hosted by Kaptain Kool and the Kongs.

But I discovered the movie via that broadcast back then (about ten years ago). At the time I probably wouldn't have believed that such a person could run for president, or that there were so many rubes in modern America. So let's say "newly relevant".

Mark Mothersbaugh did "Face in the Crowd" like a decade ago, long before it was relevant.

No mention yet of The Alex Oriental Experience, which included Jaki on drums. My favorite is the debut album "Alex" from '73.

I own multiple copies on DVD. I had to get the Region 2 version from the U.K. because Brian Blessed gets his own commentary track.
EDIT - just noticed it's airing this afternoon on the Comet network, followed by the most essential of all Japanese Star Wars clones, "Message from Space".

That's a great double feature, especially in that order. Black Christmas is so effectively scary and fatalist that the humor of Christmas Evil makes for a perfect antidote.

Christmas Eve 2014. I was to fly to Chicago to join my wife and son early the next morning for the holidays, so I took advantage of the opportunity to watch my treasured copy of "The Party Animal".
