My issue with reviewers is they're only reviewing for the opening weekend, trying to be cool hipsters. These films can potentially be around forever. And in 10 years' time, nobody is going to have ever heard of Hail Caesar again… or Carol.

Whoa there on Sea of Trees. The movie has never been released and getting lambasted by Cannes critics (for whom a movie is always an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE! or a TOTAL DISASTER!, the better to get hits or re-tweets) is maybe not a fair assessment.

The skit they did with McConaughey - the white guy trying to be a bluesman - was one of the sneakiest attacks on cultural appropriation ever. It got overlooked because it was so sly and wasn't dumb ha-ha which only gets noticed on SNL. Check it out.

A lot of the action sequences in Hunger Games were directed by Ross' pal Soderbergh when Ross fell ill during the shoot. Blame him.

I read the Blacklist script. It is based on Bre-X though I think they've changed the names to avoid lawsuits. David Walsh (the crook behind Bre-X) is now Kenny Wells. Michael de Guzman's name has also been changed. Both Walsh and de Guzman are now dead so presumably the widows scared the producers.
