It's not that surreal if you imagined the barman as the Doctor, as I did.

Last time I thought of TomTom was like two years ago… That joke had a short lifespan.
Strax was like a happy puppy when he got to fight.
You're assuming it's a *Complete* History of the Time War. Any old Time Lord could have written it if it doesn't include the ending.
I liked pretty much all those episodes, but this one and Akhaten needed to trim some fat. They both had underdeveloped ideas introduced at the last minute in the Sun God and the Crooked Man. These where story beats that the plot didn't have time to explore and in many ways undermined previous established events.
The saving lives aspect might be attractive to some, too.
I'm like you. Part of it may be my watching environment, though. Headphones allow me to detect the background music a bit better, but I never hear it otherwise.
I have an image for that description. I don't think I can post it.
Danggit Now you made me have to watch Farscape.
Yeah, you're welcome to feel that way. Opinions are what they are. I feel a similar way about Twin Peaks. So many people were into it, but it did nothing for me. That good ole' ymmv~
You misunderstand my use of "new." It's entirely my fault, rereading my previous comment, however. To clarify, I meant things along the lines of "new franchises."

You're welcome to not be attached to the episode, but I don't see why any of that bothers you. I think that alone is pretty enlightening toward your initial remark.

It was my favorite and I only know Gaiman is a writer from an earlier comment on this page, so I think that answers your rhetorical question, in part.

For the babies thing… if they're alive in some capacity, they presumably reproduce. Although, perhaps the "image of an angel" thing accommodates for that… but that could also explain the "every statue in the city" bit from this.
