I agree that the casting felt pretty bland. Farrell has his defenders, and he wowed me in In Bruges, but he was also working with one of the finest dialogue writers on the planet next to arguably the greatest living actor in the world in the leading role. I think you can make a pretty rational argument that Live Through This is a better album than Nevermind. In Utero is mostly terrible. Pretty on the inside and Bleach are both pretty great and cancel each other out in my mind.
