there were a couple lines that Capaldi delivered tonight that made me actually think, "that's how Tennet would have done it." I can't remember exactly the lines. It wasn't the words, but the delivery that made me think of him.

as much as I loved the episode, I did really miss Clara too. Clara's great.
that was a great episode! the only drawback was that because of the actress you knew she wouldn't join him, which is a shame; I thought they'd be good together. I hope they figure out some way to use her in the future (meaning, i hope they find an explanation for her aging). Because we really need a very special…
now this is a two parter I can get behind. A great contained story that could have been a one off, but we get to continue with a cool new character again next week. Can't wait!
I probably wouldnt even notice, would probably even like it; if they aired them back to back. BBC has no
problem with varying formats. they've had plenty of series that have 2hr eps (Foyle's War and Sherlock come to mind). If they aired all the two parters as 1 episode, I probably wouldnt care. But as two…
I agree. Which I is why I think it's ill advised to have half of the episodes of a season dependent on cliffhangers.
Couldn't agree more. Time Heist was great fun and the perfect length. Same with Mummy on the Orient Express and The Lodger and Midnight. All great episodes that would not have worked as two parters.
But they're basically writing/filming 6 movies. And I think it's really hard to keep up quality. There's a reason Moffat only does 3 Sherlock 2hr episodes a season and takes years between them (besides schedualing). It's hard to come up with 2hr stories.
yes, I could, and I will I guess. But then I need a 2hr block of time and I dont get a new episode every week. Which stinks because I've loved this era and I'm a fan of capaldi. I want to watch them more often, not less.
But I think that's what they've been doing with an entire season arc. I have no problem with unanswered mysteries. But some of the best episodes of this era have been the stand alones. The single focused episodes that arent part of the arc of the season, but maybe popup in later seasons. See Blink.
I cannot stress enough how much I hate the idea of an all two parter season. It makes no sense. Watching the first part knowing there will be no conclusion just seems pointless. once in a while, for big events, two parters are fine. for an entire season, idiotic.
