First place: A Serious Man. Bottom: Llewyn Davis, Raising Arizona, and Intolerable Cruelty. All the others change rank from time to time.

Now that I know that Marty Mapes of Movie Habit was one of the five people who loved Hamlet, I guess it's time I finally check that thing out.
Without even thinking about it, the second I saw the name Richard Masur the voices in my head were from All in the Family, Who'll Stop the Rain, and The Thing. Speaking of Who'll Stop the Rain, any chance you could ever get Tuesday Weld for a Random Roles?
Bullitt is fine but "hard-edged, unflinching, modern" pretty much defines Point Blank. Maybe I'm biased but for A History of Violence column I would have started with Bonnie and Clyde.
Nashville. Not really a faux c/w fan but seeing Lily Tomlin, Henry Gibson, and Karen Black share the stage? I know half the cast is gone, but absolutely.
Not from a Road movie but for some reason it's my favorite Hope line: "It's a shoe. With a foot in it."
How could Fox think they'd get away with it? Had Anderson said fuck you, what would they have done? Said, "Get Annabeth Gish on the phone!"?
I haven't seen Shelter yet. Sorry to say, it fell off my radar and I forgot about it. But thanks for the reminder.
Carol "feels like something I’ve been waiting for decades to see: Queer people falling passionately in love, without having to apologize for their happiness."
Wow, I assumed he must have won for at least one Coen brothers movie, but no. His work is lovely.
It is, it is. I agree.
Surprised, too. And I know his influences are all over the place but…
Like John Williams isn’t going to win. I haven’t seen The Force Awakens but I can already hear the music in my head. It’s loud and thrilling, right? He’s written some great and iconic scores but his nominations are pretty much a given. He’s like the Meryl Streep of composers. I did love him back when he was…
Bowie's music was my "soundtrack" when I first moved to NYC. He was also the nicest celebrity I met while working at the Strand bookstore. He sat in my chair and chatted me up on movies, books, music. Just like a person.
Viola Davis! Finally someone pronounces Blanchett correctly.
"I'm going to talk to you like people." ??
The documentary The Thin Blue Line resulted in a murder conviction being overturned. And that was Texas!
Seeing Dean Jones on that list make me very sad.
Who the hell does does Quentin Tarantino think he is? Jason Mann?
Okay, I'll root for Best of Enemies. And maybe Love & Mercy if only for Elizabeth Banks's performance. It may not seem like she's doing a lot, but hers is the hardest role in the movie to pull off. What she did with a blink and a half-smile broke my heart.
