I was so weirded out throughout most of the tag, I'm not sure I got the joke until you spelled it out just now. I should try to watch it again with that in mind.
I did laugh uproariously at the Dan Harmon stand-in, though, so it wasn't all bad.

It's just a shame they weren't able to replicate the massive popularity of shows such as "The People Who Are Friends".
