Grrr! Argh!

Woohoo! One of my favorite movies. I don't even care.

Craig Parker is killing it per usual. He's a scenery foodie, that one.

The situation may also end up reminding me of Eliza Dushku's career. I never had as much of a problem with her delivery of more subdued material on Dollhouse, maybe due to residual Buffy love, but others certainly did. Faith was obviously the type of character she handled best. I can see it being easier for some

*Arrow Spoilers*

She really was better in those scenes. Come to think of it, her character on Gossip Girl, who she did a good job with, was a deceitful, snarky character. Maybe that's the issue: she has a very narrow range and they didn't test her enough because she's been on CW shows before.

It's funny, because I feel like Tommy was more fridged than Sara.

Because media influences how people, especially young people, view issues that most are fairly ignorant about. If you can't relate to that particular issue, you may not care, but try to look at it from the point of view of someone who does.

I love your avatar.

This ep just proved that the writers care way more about canon than they should, so doesn't that mean that Oliver will end up with Laurel? As if things can't get any worse?

Laurel

Who is this "we" of whom you speak?

I usually consider her acting merely flat but if I'm honest with myself, there's some of that too. I don't need my characters to be super likable but an actor has to deliver a compelling enough performance, and actors are paid to be able to elevate even simple scenes. I don't see enough of that from Cassidy plus she

The thing is that although the character is underwritten, she's had opportunities to put some life into Laurel in basic scenes and has even had emotional material as well. It's not like she hasn't been given anything to work with. Good actors can do much more with much less. I'd love to be wrong about it—we'll see.

You aren't interrupting!

What's funny is that Lotz isn't the best actor herself, but there's a special, down to earth quality to her that's good for Arrow. And then her athletic ability, which includes extensive training in dance, parkour, etc. puts her over the top. A movie franchise would be lucky to have a lead with those skills.

I do like that it gives the character something to do but based on her performance in the rest of the series I don't see how Cassidy is going to be able to pull it off. At all. The performance aspect is a big part of my problem with this. And I actually used to be a fan of Cassidy, back when I used to watch Gossip

Talking through this is what I need i.e. therapy.

I'm enjoying any opportunity to vent, frankly!

Decently executed, but very poorly conceived if you have the show's long-term interests in mind. It's a very unique situation so it's hard to boil it down to straightforward critiques; the reasoning is more complicated.
