I certainly think they are going for a more fair portrait of Crawford, but they aren't letting her off the hook in the series.

Rollercoaster Tycoon?
I actually think that Marnie—in general—has been well written. I suspect that they are trying to capture this portrait of a relatively normal, average person who really wants to be extraordinary, who really wants to break the mold and not be a manager in a cubicle farm. In that aspect, the show is dead on, provided…
Jessa. Is. The. WORST.
Totally true to life, alas.
Well…from 60 feet away, anyway.
Yes, but I kind of wanted Elijah to suck a little more. Rannells is super talented, and I thought one of his greatest talents was playing someone who is 'talent adjacent,' or someone with some skills, but not superior skills. I seriously don't want Elijah to become a "star" by the last episode. That seems wrong to me.
Matt Bomer's very annoying obviously bulimic younger sister. Jesus, Williams! Eat a fucking sandwich. Your arms are terrifying.
I think she's a terrific actor. It takes real skill to NOT introduce likable traits into a serialized character. Indeed, that's something that they tell you to do in those classes BECAUSE the audience wants to love to hate you, not flat out hate you.
…and sadly, I could totally relate to that conversation. It took a stranger at a bar to wake me up to blaming everyone else and to own my own life. Sigh. The early 20s sucked!
I think the key to understanding Joan is the ego. She'd be fine if the success of the film were solely on her shoulders, but it's not (and really, as much as I love Joan Crawford, Davis really does walk away with the movie. You can't take your eyes off of her throughout.)
That scene between Joan and Pauline was just heartbreaking, but remember—it's not that Pauline is a WOMAN, it's that Pauline is a NOBODY—that causes Joan to reject her film.
I love that the Joan Meets Her Agent Scene is a total rip from the "Don't Fuck With Me, Fellas" scene in Mommie Dearest. Down to the fucking hat.
We'll have to agree to not agree politely, as I don't see the movie in that manner at all. Batman was right: a near-omnipotent being on a planet of mortal IS a threat. Superman will ALWAYS pose an existential threat to humanity because of his near-omnipotence. There should be weapons and plans to take him down should…
I'll give BvS this: the 'destruction of Metropolis' replay seen from Bruce Wayne's perspective was just terrific stuff. And there are some really good ideas in there (not the least of which is that Batman was RIGHT: what would the planet do should Superman go rogue?)
Oh, and Galactus not being a giant man in a helmet promoting Hostess products is an affront to my inner nerd.
LOL. Really? Not Roxy's completely, batshit insane left-right-left bug-eyed moves on the dance floor?
Tough room. Who knew I was in a kennel?
She wasn't the lead in "Nell?" :p
