"Ex-Military Operators"… So… It's the "Black Hawk Down" of Blackwater?
"Ex-Military Operators"… So… It's the "Black Hawk Down" of Blackwater?
I plan on seeing this at Film Forum, though to be honest, I wish they were just showing more of the Quays' films, and left this doc out.
This sounds less "Rear Window" and more "The Yellow Wallpaper".
We didn't know he was a virgin birth, a prophecized chosen one who was supposed to destroy the Sith, instead of joining them. We didn't know that part of what motivated him to join the Sith was his frustration with the Jedi's strict rules, which prevented him from saving his mother when he could've, and kept him from…
I guarantee that if they weren't in the movies at all, people would be complaining about that non-stop.
I like the droid army, myself. Mostly they're there to be a group that the Jedi can acceptably carve up with their lightsabers and still keep a PG rating. I'm cool with that.
Eh. I honestly can't take any of the "here's my outline of what the movies should've been" posts seriously, especially when they basically include half of the characters and story elements that the Prequels introduced. But frankly, the idea of any scenario where the Jedi are being hunted down by clones the whole time…
Padme's main growth is in AOTC, but even in TPM we get to see her grow from the by-the-book girl who's skeptical of Qui-Gon's unorthodox behavior to a shrewd, maybe even somewhat cynical political figure when she's manipulated by Palpatine. In AOTC we get the bulk of her growth, from pure political idealist to someone…
Actually yeah, he starts out as a nice kid in Episode I, innocent and only concerned with helping others. Then, after his time with the Jedi in AOTC he's more self-absorbed, awkward, only concerned with his mother and Padme. Then, by ROTS, under Palpatine's "guidance" and tortured both by the Jedi's restrictions…
Whether or not that's true is beside the point, for the purposes of this argument anyway. They just plain don't fit the MO of the video. They have plenty of new stories and conflicts, and plenty of character growths and arcs. And in fact, that's what got them into hot water with fans. They aren't perfect, sure, but…
ANH and Jedi were my faves as a kid, too. I love the Yoda and Vader stuff in ESB, but the Han stuff just kinda drags. Another thing that's always bugged me about ESB— why doesn't the Falcon ever shoot back at the TIES that are chasing it? Yeesh. But yeah, the romance is shoe-horned. Or rather the conflict over it is.…
I'll backlash on Empire Strikes Back. Han is basically one strong-armed flirtation away from Bill Cosby level creepiness. He's already at James Bond if-we're-entirely-honest-with-ourselves- level.
Ugh. I hate seeing the Star Wars Prequels included here as a negative example, because they do everything the video insists sequels (or whatever should do). They don't simply copy-paste the original story mechanics of the original trilogy onto new circumstances, but build something very different, much more political…
Thank you, Lies Of, for actually responding to the comment I made, and not just making snide jokes and insults. Especially in reply to something about the difference between introversion and extroversion.
I love the man's movies, especially the Prequels, but gregarious is the last word I'd ever think of to describe him. He comes off, at best, comfortable in interviews. He doesn't come off as an extrovert by any means. Quite the opposite. I'd honestly believe it if somebody said he was on the spectrum.
Is this the actual aspect ratio for the new season, or is this just for the trailer?
I honestly can't wait for this. Giamatti's a great enough actor to want to see him in a series regardless, but one that's targetting financial corruption and capitalist excess in a post Recession world? Seriously, entertainment like this might be the thing that finally pushes the country to make some actual inroads…
Did anybody actually like "The Cape"? Is is it just a "Community" joke?
I've always imagined that the Tenenbaum kids are all adopted, and it's only Margot who keeps nursing the wound-memory of being introduced that way.
You joke, but this could very well be the start of a whole Colonial Era Good Wife AU. You could headcanon the fuck out of this.
