Are they? I live in the American South, and my standard is a flag pole in front of every gas station and a lot of homes. And quadruple on the 4th. Every place else looks positively unpatriotic ;)

Depends on who you talk to. Most of my friends in the UK are deeply embarrassed by the fact that most of the foreign people in their country are there because they couldn't stop conquering places.
I feel like our base level of patriotic/sports enthusiasm is set to just below World Cup levels. No one flies jets over their games the way we do.
I feel bad that you're pretty much guaranteed an awkward Thanksgiving. At least my Trump supporting brother works all the time, and we can just play board games to avoid the politics.
I've heard the same thing from British people. They only wave the flag for the World Cup, in part because waving the flag has generally accompanied the conquest of some poor country in times previous.
John Oliver set it down pretty well in last weeks episode of LWT. Comforting the families of fallen soldiers is one of those things that all presidents are expected to do. A President sends soldiers to their deaths, so it's natural to expect them to respect their sacrifice for those political decisions. Usually…
Man, I have never seen this kind of outright loathing and hatred for an American presidential candidate from across the whole Late Night spectrum before. Maybe they're trying to make up for the fact that they spent a few months being excited about Trump The Joke Candidate?
Wow. Honestly, considering my parents loathe Trump, I could see a lot of your standard religious conservatives just utterly bailing on Trump. Maybe Gary Johnson will take those votes, or they'll just leave it blank.
"White people had to have a mad rush to get their land their, and the Indians just got it all at once."
Definitely! Honestly, they could get a good many of those movies from the darker corners of Netflix. It will be nice to see some riffing without references to early 90s politics.
I had a friend who didn't want to read Harry Potter because they were too popular, which drove me nuts. I can understand being turned off by fandom, but I think an active fan base is usually a mark of something worthy of attention.
Yeah, the Hulu and Amazon shows just pass me by since not only do I not have those services, but it's not likely I even hear about their shows without those services. Netflix shows tend to have enough buzz around them that you will see references to them elsewhere, but Transparent is the only Amazon show I've really…
You mean from 2008? Well, Biden did quit a presidential race in 88 over something similar. I looked it up, and an article said:
Plagiarism is a big fucking deal though, for a lot of people. Especially plagiarism from someone on the opposite political spectrum. People get fired and resign because of plagiarism.
Tinnitus!
It was a very adult way for that to happen… just talking about it and then suddenly they were making their lives together. I guess I tend to get tired of the "But is Jake from Scandal really my one true love?" rational for breaking up with someone in sitcoms. At least he ended up with Elizabeth Banks.
I feel like Lost ended when Juliet crushed that bomb with a rock. Everything was fixed, the end.
S4 was edited so strangely it became really hard for me to follow after we went on vacation while we were still in the middle of the season. I also think that the whole cast was a lot stronger together than an individual character was on their own.
I dunno. Season 9 was unnecessary, but what got me about the later half of Scrubs was that JD didn't really get the mix of whimsy to responsibility right, and just started to get really annoying. I liked the finale, but he didn't really deserve to end up with Eliot… they'd done that dance so many times by that point…
Season 3 of Boardwalk Empire really derailed me. Going from a contest between close friends to a sort of Villain of the Series situation really tamped down my interest.
