This movie treads on some really interesting theological territory… technically, child Jesus would have always been God, but at the same time, a little kid. How would that hybrid being act? Assuming he was an actual little boy that didn't fully grasp his powers is, I think, a heresy. Maybe… Nestorian?

It was a tiny throw away line during the Crucifixion, that the patriarchs rose from their graves and mingled with the crowd. They don't really make a big deal of it anymore, compared with the tearing of the Temple shroud, darkness, and earthquake, cause… zombies?

You wouldn't have to do all of it. And the Jews didn't all leave… wasn't the guy that wrote the Talmud a Mesopotamian?

It's funny that Jesus Christ Superstar was (is?) controversial, but almost every movie with Jesus in it and a fun song will end up being church youth group material.

I haven't watched the film, but I definitely felt like the nesting didn't do the weaker stories in Cloud Atlas any favors at all. It took me a while to adjust to each stylized part, and then by the time I got back around to it, I had to do it all over again and remember who was what.
