I'm looking forward to the montage of her learning how to frown, set to Eye of the Tiger. First she'll struggle to turn that smile upside down, to tamp down on her youthful love of the world. But then she'll get on some sweats, get in front of a mirror, and soon she'll be that grim, dour billionaire we all know and

I feel like if she actually tried to use any of her power, she'd be booted out of her Head of State position almost instantly.

I think flag worship isn't even uniform in America… I had a coworker from Philly who was really weirded out by all the flags in people's yards down here in NC.

Harry's racism isn't too shabby either. Being able to remember that there were South African Nazi sympathizers is the sort of classy, cosmopolitan racism that you'd expect from a royal.

Cameron guys, this is getting old.

I and many others still have a reflexive hate response to that fucking song though. It may not be in the public consciousness, but it sure as hell is in our unconscious.

Avatar is on FX a lot. But I think that's the extent of it.

I think its also that James Cameron hasn't done anything else yet…. District 9 was quite well regarded, and its director has gone on to do other films with a kind of similar dirty/junky flair to it, and I can kind of see its influence in other films.

For me, I think what keeps it from being timeless is that the plot never managed to get me fully on the side of the Na'vi. The humans spent years trying to make friends, and the Na'vi basically demanded a full conversion to their mindset… they had no interest in humans or what they could offer in terms of knowledge

I liked it when I saw it, but it's not a movie that is good to overthink, or see on the small screen. Watching it on TV with my girlfriend's nephews, you realize how many kitty people butts and boobs you weren't noticing because of all the other beautiful stuff on screen.

They're too busy trying to take back yoga to notice, I think.

The Navi are fucking awful, incurious, ungrateful assholes.

I can understand Avatar being #1….. but not it making 2 or 3 times what a good Star Wars movie does. That just seems like a pact with the devil or something.

When things like Minions and Smurfs bring in half a billion dollars… it just seems like a waste when there are far better children's movies out there. For every Inside Out where you think that children can appreciate smart entertainment, there is a Minions out there to remind you that they're nonsense spouting, fart

I dunno, someone saying "DAAAAAAYMMMM" after that final "I don't give a damn" line would be hilarious.

I still don't quite understand what happened with Avatar. I mean, I remember people seeing Titanic three or four times, and it running in theaters for months and months, but the gross on Avatar still seems like someone sort of conspiracy, like the Iluminati were using to launder Reptilian space bucks or something.

The one where they didn't let any black people in the theater? Even the actors in the movie?

Well, it helps when you draw your districts specifically to make those people a majority.

And also that white men are completely incapable of empathizing with someone that is not exactly like them in every way. I see a woman stub her toe and think "I would feel bad, but only if she had a penis. Only then could I truly understand her mysterious lady mind"

I'm sure there were some white people mumbling 'dey took ur jobz' at the time.
