There’s most certainly a difference between a Latinx person, even one as odious as Ted Cruz, choosing to go by an Anglophone name in an Anglophone-dominant/hegemonic/white supremacist culture, and a white dude’s dad bestowing a Spanish nickname on his young son because he saw it as politically advantageous.
