This. I had no intention of watching because I didn’t like his last special before 8:46. (I don’t really consider 8:46 a standup special so much as a Ted talk.) I just sat there watching it and not laughing. Honestly, it made me sad to be watching him and feeling bored.

Yeah, like, I was avoiding the special specifically because I didn’t care for the last two. The fallout is just Dave throwing gas on the fire.

That’s my problem with Chapelle’s recent material. It’s not anything people haven’t said or thought in the past, we’re just kind of over that way of thinking and treating other people. I think my issue, more than anything, is that all this is just terribly lazy. It’s not clever, it’s not insightful, it’s not novel or fresh. Dude could mix in some “take my wife!” jokes and they would be about as timely.
