I do this almost every month, so why stop now? Throwing in a plug for Criterion Channel, which is my favorite streaming service and has lots of great options the major services don’t.

Okay, Evan Peters is pretty adorable in this. When they enter the restaraunt to arrest psycho girl, and the mother asks “table for two?” he gets this sort of playful, bashful smile and his face starts to light up. But then Mare sort half looks back toward (not at) him, looks forward again and plainly goes “no”, and…
As someone who grew up in Delaware County, I’m really proud of the fact the area was deemed depressing and bleak enough for one of these prestige-y type “girl murdered in small town” shows.
Going in didn’t seem to be her plan, the gas pump’s card reader was broken. I think she’d have gone elsewhere otherwise.
While it wasn’t explicit I figured that the cops already knew Brianna was catfishing Erin because of the video and the interviews.
Well, I hope Cameron Britton will be back as well. His Ed Kemper is hands down the best part of a show with many great parts. Absolutely magnificent.
It does seem like there’s a paragraph or two missing from the end of this review as yeah, there’s a lot of things not touched on--it’s a pretty detailed show so I suppose that would have been a much longer review, but I agree it feels a tad incomplete as is.
Were there several entire paragraphs of this that didn’t get posted? I know reviews are rushed and it’s not great form to pick on them, but aside from a sentence that seems like it was garbled by the computer (“Her life is about to complicate as a renewed focus on the Katie Bailey dovetails with a brutal murder in…
After the disappointment of ‘Your Honor’, I was really hoping that something intense, bleak and gritty would come along soon. The first episode had me hooked within five minutes. Kate Winslet never disappoints.
Pretty sure they live back-to-back rather than across the street, which is way worse.
Yep. I go and read that every so often when I need a lift. Think I’ll go do that right now!
Do they hand out awards around here for the best headline of the week/month/year? Because if so, this is a solid entry. Good luck!
Ignatiy’s review of Seagal’s Contract To Kill remains to this day one of the greatest things this site’s ever published.
This review seems to match exactly what I would have expected after seeing the trailer. But I do find this one comment in the review odd:
As a Mexican American who grew up on his movies, all I can say is....he’s The Man.
He comes across as someone intensely invested in his art, but also incredibly personable, I’m not sure I’ve heard someone say a word against him.
Right? I am black and I have dread locks so that is a whole other can of worms when it comes to looking intimidating or unapproachable.
6'6"/250lbs here. Can relate. I played basketball, so I don’t even consider myself that tall. Hardest part is people gawking &/or being afraid. It’s the worst combination of being unable to blend in while at the same time appearing unapproachable.
I had a friend in college who was 6'9", he always walked with a hunch. Sitting down in a living room? Always drew he knees up to his chest. I felt bad for the guy, he clearly wanted to be smaller.
He is also Geralt of Rivia now. Henry Cavill’s nerd cred is unimpeachable.
