Maybe not bought as a pair in the sense you meant, but I like a pair that complements each other. Here's what I have. I bought these two used. These two cars together cost the average price of a new car these days, but fulfill so much more. :-)

I think the Auto is. I can easily get 33MPG doing 85MPH on a highway with my Manual Transmission, but as soon as you are around town you are in the 28's. On a track day I acheived 8... EIGHT mpg.

Agreed. Both in combination. Save up and buy it in cash and get a couple year old car so the other guys takes the depreciation hit. (Also, no tax on used car says from private parties in my state so there's another chunk of change to save)
