I'll let your overreaction to my post (and the way you took my generalization really personally) speak for itself.

Totally agree. The people who watch extreme porn are much more likely to be conversant with the parts of themselves that are turned on by it, and therefore much more likely to be able to deal with those desires in productive ways. When you sublimate it into some fantasy shit, you push it deeper.

If the writers are using rape to make this point then clearly they are really bad writers. It's offensive, misogynistic, and poorly done.

If you acknowledged it in fiction than you'd prove to yourself that it's at least POSSIBLE to acknowledge it in real life. And that's a big no-no for a lot of peeps.

I think a lot of people are REALLY into watching and being implicated in sexual violence but are too repressed or scared to address it consciously, so when as show comes around that hides it in a fantasy landscape they love it and get off on it (in the broadest sense).

Yeah it's exactly like a romance novel. Sort of simple. It spices things up with its fantasy/unfamiliar references. And is full of violence and sex.

WAIT. Are you telling me that an HBO fantasy show, which so far has demonstrated the emotional maturity of an 11 year old boy, is gratuitous and irresponsible in its depiction of sexual violence? Color me SHOCKED.

This is one of the saddest, least thoughtful collection of online comments I've read in a long time. And I read some terrible websites.

So High School is about white kids pretending to be pop stars? WHO KNEW???
