There was a lot of fear of right-wing groups back then too.

How has it aged horribly?
People used to call LotR unfilmable.
I don’t see how. Can you give any examples?
I’ve been wondering what the greatest day ever is for movie releases.
As disappointing as it was to learn what an asshole Whedon is, I think the fact that people were so disappointed is arguably a compliment to the quality of his work as far as representation goes. I doubt anyone heard about the revelations about, say, Brett Ratner, and reacted like “Damn, I expected better from him.”
Here’s some quibbles I have with that interview:
How much did Letterman really keep his edge after he went to CBS?
Weird that Sean Connery was offered the role.
Funny that Highway Crossing Frog actually was what Frogger was gonna be called.
I always liked the part with the Architect. I think some people consider exposition in general to be a chore, but I thought that part was pretty fascinating.
I think there are plenty of ‘90s shows that are recognizably of their time: Seinfeld, Friends, Buffy, etc.
One weird thing about that, though, is that the guys who created Stranger Things were born in 1984.
Funny you should exclude the ‘90s from that list considering how often people these days say ‘90s pop culture(Seinfeld being probably the most common example) is conspicuous now for its lack of cellphones.
I remember the internet being a lot different then that it was now; just look at all the things we consider internet staples now that didn’t exist then.
I think his ability to make his point in a civil manner is one thing that makes him a worthy successor to Jon Stewart.
I liked his approach to his Tomi Lahren interview 5 years ago. Some people accused him of “normalizing” her by being polite to her, but her status as the Next Big Thing proved to be short-lived.
I haven’t seen her show; I was talking about the “sorry for making you uncomfortable” approach in general rather than anything she did.
I doubt that “Sorry I make you uncomfortable” is a good way to sway people. To me it basically sounds like “Sorry I’m not politically correct.”
“Abrahams”? Were there two guys named Abraham involved in this?
