Detroit is working hard to revitalize its image. Look at where Pittsburgh was 20-30 years ago. Now it's a reasonably vibrant city with a big healthcare industry and a lot of higher learning. Maybe Detroit can pull it off, but it has a seriously long way to go.
I've had a lot more fun in the UP. Maybe that's true for all Michiganers.

I've taken a wrong turn in LA and ended up in south central. It wasn't my favorite place to be, that's for sure.
My brother lived there for years. Maybe he didn't know what he was doing, but like many other people of Detroit, he fled.
I've been to Detroit, and I don't want to ever go there again. I mean, some of it is pretty decent, but soooo much of it is just a festering dumphole.

I've taken this advice and have figured out how to make a weekend fit into a carry on backpack that complies with the TSAs stowables requirement. No more lost luggage, no worrying about cramming overstuffed bags into overstuffed overhead bins.
This is exactly what a no frills economy car is supposed to be. I don't know why people are expecting something flashy or super exciting in this segment.
