I did. It gives you a good idea of the world, the characters, and their relationships. Ended up buying the complete series afterwards. The movie is good, but not great in comparison to the series.

Which films are you talking about specifically?. I can think of Argo and The Artist off the top of my head. Argo is one of the most overrated films I’ve ever seen and didn’t deserve to win, but it wasn’t explicitly about Hollywood. The Artist was competing in an extremely weak field and probably should have lost to Tre

Not Kobe? DeRozan has said that he’s modeled his game after him.

I think the story will suffice.

I definitely do. I have so many questions already.

I think the idea that La La Land was “reviving musicals” was something that the media created, not what the creators intended themselves. It’s definitely more in the vein of old school musicals, but as the film progresses so does the type of musical that it becomes. I’m not sure whether Disney films really count as

What the fuck?

It was impressive from a franchise perspective, but did little to improve any of the creative aspects that I mentioned. It was still a pretty boilerplate action movie with a lackluster enemy horde. The visual effects were impressive and deserved the nomination, but everything else was good but not great. And I’m not

Popularity is a small factor at the Oscars though. It’s about perfection of the craft, which is why there are always so many obscure but incredibly well made films that no one has heard of. Ticket sales matter, but not as much as acting, directing, cinematography, writing, scoring, etc. Comic book movies have always

The Handmaiden is amazing and I think I enjoyed it more than Moonlight, although I’d say that Moonlight is the better film.

Aside from the self-referential aspect, many of those movies are popular because they’re also very well made. If you make a shitty movie about making movies you’d likely never work in Hollywood again.

You should try watching it because it really is one of the best movies of the year (the best in my opinion).

Like La La Land doesn’t deserve all of the awards.

I can understand The Dark Knight and Guardians of the Galaxy, but Spider-Man 2 and The Avengers? Cmon now.

You haven’t seen Moonlight or La La Land have you?

Your film opinions are laughably bad.

It’s the one thing he said he’d never do.

I feel like we saw different films. The party scenes were not the “hard parts” (except for Gosling’s character). Even those parties were shown to be full of boring soulless people. Getting fired on Christmas and having to play keyboard in a shitty 80s band was the hard part. Selling all of your things to put on a show

You haven’t seen it, have you?

Are we really surprised La La Land won everything?
