Not sure how you feel about anime—I'm so-so, myself— but I can't recommend Cowboy Bebop or especially Samurai Champloo enough. Both are done by the same person or team of people or something (?) and have similar styles. Just very very great shows. Also, The Boondocks is another great cartoon.
