@avclub-5f9fb170811d8e55bc9aa2abee3e4876:disqus Yeah I've got OF Tape Vol 2, Oldie's a badass track. I just meant that he's more of a singer than a rapper… I only threw the disclaimer in because I saw people bitching about it last week. I think it's splitting hairs for sure, because he can clearly rap, and runs with

Haha. Exact same thing happened to me and my friends. I usually work til about 1015, so we would get together for the midnight repeat and get stoned and watch it every week. As soon as it didn't come on I knew it was because of bullshit politics, I had been following all the dram BS. So I jumped straight on Pirate

It is absolutely ridiculous how often I quote this still, so many years later. I don't know why but I just fucking love that haiku.

Haha, is THAT what the fuck he says there? I kept wondering. What does Majin Buu have to do with cotton candy and sexy music? Is he the "sensai" we keep hearing about? I never watched much DBZ so I barely know anything about it, and barely even remember the character.

I will wholeheartedly agree about Pink Matter's placement. EVERY single time I almost forget about Forrest Gump because Pink Matter feels like a perfect ending track. But I'm a sucker for almost anything Andre 3000 does, plus I love the slow build of Ocean's verses building to the funky ass bass and guitar licks which

Yeah, personally I think it's a little too early for some of those claims, at least about Frank as an artist. Time will tell. I think he absolutely has more than enough potential to become an all-time legend, but that's gonna take some solid output that's consistently at this level. As for this album, though… I feel

Hmm, I've never even heard these guys but I've heard a lot about them. This might be the impetus to finally check them out. What style are they, exactly? I'm not somewhere I can listen to them right now, but I'll be checking it out ASAP… that summary does indeed sound like a good "thing".

Yeah, as to your last point, I'll admit to pirating this initially. Mainly because I wanted to check it out but not being a huge R&B fan wasn't sure how much I'd like it… but as absolutely stone-cold amazing as it is, I'm going to buy a hard copy CD tomorrow now that it's out. It's only fair considering how much play

I thought everyone was being hyperbolic when they were saying just how great it was. Then I watched his Fallon performance (God DAMN that man has some passion and soul… Frank Ocean, not Jimmy Fallon) and instantly was hooked. There's just so much emotion and raw passion in the album, plus it doesn't hurt that the

Yeah, I think that's the coolest thing about his coming out. It's awesome and worth supporting based on the braveness of doing so while being a part of a community that is pretty openly homophobic (I know, he's not a rapper obviously, but he still is associated with OFWGKTA)…. but it's even more historic because he's
