I played both Fallout 3 and Skyrim from launch day on a decidedly minimum range PC with zero issues. New Vegas had some troubles, but I am 100% convinced that a lot of the bugs and errors and complaints come from people who maintain their PC’s like shit and have broken virus ridden operating systems.

I don’t know that crippled is the right word, unless you are trying to mod the hell out of it on day 1. I played the shit out of Skyrim at launch, and there were definitely some hiccups, but compared to other recent launch day titles I’ll take Bethesda anyday

It’s less and less necessary for the small time projects too. The power is still useful for operating systems and AAA games, but I’m guessing that 99.999% of indie devs have no need of it.
