See? You’re as confused as I was after reading this article. When another responder mentioned the article Aaron is summarizing is talking about CO2 (and I went back and finally read said article to verify). But all Aaron mentions is the vague term “emissions.”

See? You’re confused too. And it’s not your fault.

This is where the confusion sets in with how the article is written. When you read the linked article, all it talks about are CO2 emissions, which is not considered to be a pollutant. It’s regulated by very different regulations, you will note that the CARB Executive Order documents I linked to do not mention CO2

He says, and I quote verbatim: “...the vehicles we use keep getting more efficient, but the emissions from those vehicles have gone way up.”

The auditory assault is a primary attraction of actually attending races. Eye towards 100% electric should not be in any motorsport’s main goals if they intend on remaining first and foremost entertainment.

The major city closest to Silicon Valley, with the most Teslas per capita.

Ok, to add to my reply, I did in fact go ahead and dig up two popular models, their California emissions certification.

Looking at the how far emissions standards have come since 1990, I would argue cars are far and away massively cleaner than they were in 1990. You don’t even smell most vehicle exhaust anymore.

Never been the biggest NASCAR fan and used to poke a lot of fun at how archaic most of their technology is (by the rules). Standardized stick axles, pushrods, they were still using carburetors in this decade, they didn’t switch to unleaded gas until what? 12 years ago? Which was funny and slightly infuriating to me at

I was going to comment about how this is so much worse than the “Bangle” BMWs of 15 years ago, but you know what? Looking back at some of the Bangle designs now, they’re not terrible, at least not as bad as my initial reaction was to them when they were first introduced. Weird how time and just seeing some designs

Wow. That’s really all I got.

Thinking about my examples above where people were cheering and willing on those two women leading races, part of me does have to wonder if humanity has shifted since then. Danica received a lot of attention from leading those few laps. She didn’t go on to win the race, but clearly the average person (who’s not a

I might have teared up a little bit... and I blame Stef.

My prediction, being a diesel guy, very few will buy these despite the clamoring for it, but when it hits the used market, you won’t be able to find one and it’ll hold its value way, way better than any of the gas engine offerings on a similarly equipped vehicle.

For actual rock crawling, an automatic is definitely way easier to control what’s going on...

That’s pretty spectacular.

Guess if I were an OEM with these many gear transmissions these days, I’d reduce the different axle ratios to maybe 1 or 2. In theory, you should be able to get the flexibility to do that with such transmissions. The less different parts the OE has to make for otherwise similar vehicles the better for cost usually.

Small enough difference in numbers that if I were shopping in this segment, I’d almost certainly be looking at what other things I need from the vehicle.

Who’s got the more reliable axles (no Ford 8.8 shearing C clips, thanks)? Is the kind of towing I do really need the extra rating available on the Ram? Is the extra

Do people really concern themselves that much with axle ratios anymore when we have 8, 9 and 10 speed transmissions now?
