Slightly unrelated, but does anyone have a recommendation for a good, straightforward documentary of the JonBenet case? I only kind of know about it in a piecemeal way.

I'd say one of the (nebulous) end goals is that we stop thinking of skin color as being in any way related to bankability. That it would not be so crazy for leading men to be Asian regardless of the movie or genre, instead of once in a blue moon like it is currently.

Here's my list up to 2000 (this is hard! and it will just get worse if I try to go up to the 60s-70s!) Will probably add more later. My list keeps changing.

This is a lot of work for that shade at the end, well done

He's a mediocre, inoffensive white guy who stars in low-grade comedies, i.e. a 10/10 these days apparently

Also it's a projection of what humans do to other lifeforms on earth already— kill it, eat it, or control it. It's basically our collective insecurity showing when we depict aliens as big, evil baddies to be defeated.

Actually, I did think you meant that and was going to encourage you to watch the movie!

A near-Earth Alien (like, Gravity + Alien) definitely has legs to me. Kinda ripe for a sequel too, depending on what the story is. Excited to see it.

I guess that's the silver lining to being forced to cast Matt Weiner's creepy son as Glen Bishop.

Why do all fanboys always sound the same when they read a movie review they hate? Right down to the "Ebert would be ashaaaaamed"?

Eh, I can see it being mostly unintended. If you've ever done any sort of programming regarding filtering data, you quickly realize that setting the "tolerance" is as much of an art as a science. Sometimes you even end up having to vary it by hand until you get approximately the result you were hoping for.

I guess Octavia needed an extension on her swimming pool, because why else…

So basically, this movie is redundant after Going Clear. Time for a rewatch I think.

Fear the Walking Dead is like the free phone app version of a game that's already kinda bad. And yet people still download it because they download everything.

I definitely appreciated that he took charge and did the right thing, but "classy" is being bandied about a lot. Classy was the last word on my mind when I was seeing him give the award along. Now that word has had a currency devaluation.

Eh, it was a high pressure situation and from her vantage point it might just have looked like a bit. Let's not throw her under the bus, it was neither of their faults.

Interdimensional lizard demon briefly reveling in the Lovecraftian horror of its existence? Or protecting fancy jewelry?

I can't speak to Hong Kong milk tea specifically, but having grown up with evap/condensed milk recipes (common in former British colonies), it definitely has a distinct flavor from "milk + sugar".

What are these failsons and faildaughters? I'm non-sarcastically asking because I don't get the reference.

Thank you for taking that pop culture bullet for us, Clayton. This sounds absolutely awful.
