the little red key malfunction light is on in my mazda3, and has been since i got it. i’ve taken it to the dealership, who had to call corporate, who also didn’t really know how to fix it beyond 2 new keys and a new transponder, which would have been like $1200.

the biggest problem with orange cassidy (and really, all of AEWs comedy gimmicks, plus 99% of indie gimmicks) is that they’re not funny. so rather than laughing i see a guy who’s just mocking the sport, which is not exactly what i came to see.

yeah the last 2 years of the 250R had 38.8hp, which was an absolutely insane number for that day and still a respectable one today. much lighter than a 4 wheeler, too.

yeah IIRC one of the big problems with them is that dirtbike riders would reflexively try to put their feet down as they were coming to a stop, which is a very bad idea with a 3 wheeler. like a “get your leg caught in some moving machinery” sort of bad.

IIRC the Kawi Tecate was actually the fastest 3 wheeler in the world for a while, Kawi just didn’t have the reputation of Honda. that said, the ATC 250R was definitely no chump, either.

there are actually some surprisingly capable 3 wheelers from back in the day, which is part of the reason they stopped making them. honda ATC250Rs were screamers with the same 2 stroke honda was using in it’s top of the line dirtbikes. yamaha and kawi had similar rigs in the tri-z and 250 tecate. they were all loaded…
