I think you just answered your own question. The very left Ds — the ones that make up the bulk of the party base once you step out of the tri-state / DC areas.

Glad to see this here — it’s hard to imagine NYC without an independent, journalism-driven Village Voice. One way that folks can help support the VV union, if they happen to be in a position to do so, is to donate a little bit of scratch to their strike fund here: https://www.gofundme.com/village-voice-union-strike-fu

I want this game to be like 8 hours of being stuck in prison, 15 minutes of breaking out, and then 60 hours of a prison abolition ARG that turns out to just be actual real-life activism, ending with mailing a book to your actually-incarcerated new pen-pal and a strongly worded letter to each of your elected

Fully support every argument you’ve made except suggesting that Tracey is “progressive”. Dude’s audience has leaned Nazi for well over a year; the makeup of his followership actually makes a pretty good case that most Bernie folks won’t gravitate towards a casual racist even if he’s mixing in bits and pieces of what

Hmm. While I appreciate your theological expertise, I’m going to have to respectfully disagree, being (for starters) that there are most definitely religions that aren’t theistic at all. Or at least they claim not to be. I’m sure you’re right, though, and they’re probably wrong about what they believe

Religion isn’t necessarily anything beyond organized, collective spiritual practice. I was raised in a religion that identifies itself as secular humanism. So, +1 to Halffast.

Yeah, they’ll have no choice! Except, you know, not voting. But hahahaahah who would ever do that hahhahahaha *chokes*

That’s just the thing about “centrism”, though — it’s defined only by politicians’ ambition to increase their own personal power. If Rahm thinks “fuck teachers” is the most popular opinion wherever the center of the Overton Window happens to be in today’s hellish dystopia, then “fuck teachers” it shall be.

I’m split,

Diffusion of responsiblity is a helluva drug!

Shout out to considerations about the morality of profiting off of legalized property theft by the state, since neither the author nor any of the other commenters seem to have thought twice about the potential effects of this system on the lives and well being of other human beings.

I was pretty clear before about what I said. If you’re into telling people who can and can’t inhabit the only lives they’ve ever known, regardless of due process and/or common decency, I feel good about telling you to GFY.

And a willingness to threaten violence versus a willingness to use it? Big fucking difference.

My impression is, no way. I’m so very glad that she’ll finally get to decide and articulate her path for herself, though!

No violence was actually committed and a 98-year sentence for robbing two video stores is fucking outrageous and stupid. If you think that’s fine then fuck you, straight up.

How on Earth is that a reasonable comparison, being a local political activist versus being a seething Internet racist? C’mon now.

Your concept of history is fucking hogwash. You shouldn’t comment on websites until you go back to high school.

Bullshit. People are being detained in terrible conditions, their families are being split up, they’re being dragged away from their lives and the communities they contribute to and are a part of. You’re pathetic, that you can’t see where you’re taking us. That you can’t see that certain humans are human any more.

Wow, this post has hands down the worst non-gray comments I’ve ever seen posted on Kinja. Yikes.

What’s really sad is there’s no arguing with them. The folks here hollering “but the law tho!” and “get out!” are almost certainly completely irrational hypocrites who have the same interpretive and conditional relationship

This reply is a factual and analytical powerhouse. I hope an appropriately large number of people get to read it. Thanks.

I see what you’re saying, but, well, two things:

Word. Also, some people have a problem with the idea of “representatives” the way they currently function. It’s worth asking whether a single individual, under no formal obligation to actually do anything their constituents want, necessarily constitutes meaningful “representation”. And whether we could do something
