You know, as a WOC (biracial), I'd love to know and discuss what my actual risk is of being treated unfairly by doctors is instead of people insisting that I'm either too spooked by doctors/lazy/poor to go get checked out.

@NotIt: I agree, but that doesn't have anything to do with this study. The article says: "Among those with private insurance, diagnostic delay time, or the number of days from abnormal SCREENING to definitive diagnosis..."

@palegirl: But as the article states... this is a delay from getting a screening to getting a diagnosis. It has nothing to do with women that don't get screened. It has to do with their results coming to them slower than their white peers.
@w33kdays: @BeckySharper: Yep, totally. I think the best part was listening to multiple pieces on different NPR/Public radio stations that went over the book, only to completely ignore WHY it was her and how it related to her race.
Kanye West frustrates me so much. I love that he's into art, and is exposing people to contemporary art that wouldn't see it normally. I love the art direction in his videos an in his performances... however, I fucking hate him as a person. Seriously, he's such an asshole.
@Thatiswhyyoufail: Oh god, I never thought about that. Changing "pants" to "trousers" in all your conversations so you don't come across like you're talking about underwear would be so hard.
@ikaiyoo: If you want to get picky, maybe it's the velvet apron and hot pink with hot orange boots?
@Meltropolitan: Ich werde es niemandem sagen. :)
@sensitivitycop: Oh, I could rant on that for days. For -days-.
@Secret: Seen it. :)
@sensitivitycop: I've brought this up in other discussions, but I feel like partially why people get so up in arms is because as late as the early 90's, photography was photography in advertising, and then there was illustration where people went for the crazy, inventive, fantasy directions. However, with deadlines…
I don't know why, but ever since high school I've been obsessed with WWII. I've been a sponge this entire time pouring over books, documentaries, anything I can get my hands on. I don't think there's any other point in non-ancient history that's so evocative for so many reasons to so many people.
@veronykah: No prob, I mean I'm working on advertising anyway at work, so photoshop was open. lol
I'd much rather see more of this sort of advertising critique on Jezebel than some poor production artist working for a catalog getting us all "in trouble" with jezebellers for being bad at using adobe products.
@sensitivitycop: As someone that does this for a living, I'm thinking that the before shot is a test shot, or without the lighting set up. I put the original in B/W, and the levels are off compared to the black and white one.
@katedaysaweek: Here ya go. Yes, there is retouching, but I think the reddness in her skin being taken out shows that the images are closer than one might originally think.
@Rubbish_beard I heart Doctor Who: On #2 jacket as a patch.
@chartreuseoak: Um, you basically elaborated on what I said.
@brown.h.b: For some design history, look up Henry Wolf, Ruth Ansel, and Alexey Brodovitch for starters on that era.
