As soon as I hit submit I thought "I'm talking to a dude, and I look like an idiot".

I'm a guy who comes over here from Jalopnik because you talk about interesting stuff. I'll try to answer anything you want to ask.

That does sound unsettling. I suppose he could have been drunk, or unwell. Or just plain confused about how to do the right thing. Sometimes (not always) being a decent guy in every situation can be surprisingly difficult. In any case, I hope the experience hasn't made you more uncomfortable when you're out and

Edited: Sorry, my comment didn't make any sense, and I can't think how to rephrase it. I do think most guys try to treat men and women the same in the street. By no means all, sadly.

There's a QOTD in this.

We had valet parking at UCLA for a while too. But you weren't supposed to call it that - it was officially "stack parking". Or something like that.

When I came from the United Kingdom to UCLA for graduate school in the late nineties the most concentrated dose of culture shock I received was from the cars owned, or at least driven, by the undergraduates. Well, to be fair, by some of the undergraduates.

I understand what you're saying. I have no love for these people whatsoever - but I do feel that the editorial staff should practise the same thing as they -righfully- preach.

But if he's dumb and rude and then we're dumb and rude back, where are the thoughtful decent people? They've disappeared.

I think that those who are upset feel that way because of the hypocrisy. Jezebel swiftly and correctly highlights objectification of women in the media, and then undoes their own work by committing the same mistake in relation to these men, none of whom is running for president.

Yeah, as a straight guy (yes, that is the avatar I chose) I'm against this game not because I'm annoyed that it's unseemly for guy-blogs to do it about women - I'm against it because it's just not cool.

I'm a foreign guy who normally lives in the US. When I go back there this summer it's going to take all my willpower not to buy one of these. I don't need it - I just want it.

The last Cutlass would fit the bill too, sadly. Don't start me on the demise of Olds...

I know it's the obvious choice, but that doesn't make it wrong. An older model F150.

I had no idea there were LGBT Lib Dems here in Northern Ireland. I didn't even know there were Lib Dems in Northern Ireland.

There is simply no way that very boring car is legal. No way at all. Unless you don't want to drive it and you'd rather fill it with crack like the pipe it is. Oh wait, that's illegal too.

I would agree with you on that. In Northern Ireland (the part of the UK I'm from) it's definitely used mostly about men.

The author knows that, and is just making a little joke.

I know, it was a GAZ. I was using the word "relative" in the loosest sense.

I was sure this said "What's the longest car you've ever owned?", and didn't understand the answers at all. I thought you'd all gone mad...
