Very cool build. Always loved seeing land boats going sideways on dirt, just like Roadkill did with their ‘68 Charger.

I believe my IQ went up like 5 points just by reading that. Thank you for the very thorough explanation, dear sir!
FWIW, the wagons are rare stuff here. I maybe have seen a 265 once or twice and I went apeshit. It was in brown too. Had I owned one in that exact color, I’d swap in a Toyota 1UZ and put a Jalopnik sticker on the rear hatch :)
Interesting. What does the car/battery pack benefit from the deep discharge? I’m curious as I’ve never read much about hybrids in general, and that my experience with hybrids is limited to driving my friend’s CR-Z several times (goes 120mph and still can achieve ~28mpg? A win in my book.)
(Sorry, can’t help it)
Jalopnik has an article about a Prius owner cleaning up the HV battery terminals on his own, which saved him a $4k bill: https://jalopnik.com/the-dealer-wanted-4-400-to-fix-his-hybrid-he-did-it-h-1685721487
Also if you believe your remote’s battery is low, you could try clicking the remote very close to either front quarter panels. There’s a big chance the alarm module and/or antenna lives there (or somewhere close).
My dad used to own a 240 DL. Luckily, we live somewhere with warm climate...
Technically it only is a pain when you stick said stick up your ass, so...
A few months ago I was behind the wheel of a friend’s Fiesta EcoBoost (with the DCT tranny), with him riding shotgun. I was doing about 60mph when I saw a Honda Jazz on the rearview mirror, approaching us really fast, flashing its high beams every so often. I gunned the throttle. Adrenaline ensued, Jazz could never…
Cusco would like a word with you.
Right now I’m picturing an AMG E-class wagon burning rubber with the kids inside going “WHEEEE MORE SMOKE DADDY MORE SMOKE!”
That might actually happen had I gone cross-country in a Ferrari. Probably would end up in a Jalopnik article too.
Duly noted and thanks!
Thanks for sharing your experiences as well as the recommendations! I’ve only seen the States’ mountain roads and trails from my computer screen (Matt Farah’s videos, various longboard and downhill MTB GoPro footages, probably from a few episodes of Roadkill too), but have yet to experience them myself.
This somehow reminds me of the Roadkill crew’s hijinks in their Jaguar XJ12, what with the breakdowns and all hahaha!
I’m sorry but I just giggled at the thought of a Camry with leaking exhaust, droning along the freeway. I can totally relate, as I’ve gone on a road trip in my friend’s Accord with a leaked exhaust that made it sound like a ricer — and we thought it was somewhat cool (we were 18 back then) ;)
I’d take mine in Blu Tour De France thanks ;)
That is awesome! How does the Jag ride for such a long trip? Also did you happen to visit Pikes Peak for the hillclimb race? Always wanted to see it hahaha!
I used to dream of driving across all states in the US in a manual Ferrari F430, and write blog posts as I go. I imagined my F430 stopping by the road, the only part that is pretty much clean is the windshield that has been wiped by the wipers, and cows grazing at a distance. Probably somewhere along the way I’d sleep…
