My kids and I really wanted to try leek soup after watching Fruits Basket. One of the characters would always blow up when they made leek soup. I’d never had it before and it was really good. Also good: potato and leek soup.

I was about to make a comment about our capitalist society and the unlikelihood of terrorist attacks on the rich and famous, but I won’t. Well, I guess I kinda did.

Father here as well. I never planned on having kids ...but it turns out that I did...Here are my observations now that my kids are teenagers (14 & 16)...

I second the grilled (or sauteed) vegetables. Asparagus, corn, squash, onions and peppers are all great and super easy to make. Heat pan, add a little oil, add veg and move it around every so often until browned.

Next up: watching paint dry, water boil and grass grow. All about as entertaining as watching a bunch of old guys in suits trade people like commodities.
