Well, that amendment was added and repealed in a short time and in a very different time. Right now, Congress can’t even keep shutdowns from happening. And the NRA is a fucking powerhouse lobby. Getting even the most common sense shit through Congress will be a fucking ordeal.

The point is that we do have laws for gun control and they get broken. But the outcome is usually fucking tragic (like this).

Banning guns is not a realistic solution by any stretch of the imagination.
Australia is not America. I get what you are saying, but you aren’t going to see guns banned in the US. Just won’t happen. That became abundantly clear after Sandy Hook. The idea now is to find a way to curb access reasonably.
We really do have too many guns. It is perplexing, because I personally hate the stupid things and don’t see the appeal. But the 2A crowd gets a mean hard-on for them.

The 2A says we have the right to bear arms. The SCOTUS has backed that and the NRA will throw money at it until forever. Those are the hurdles to any additional gun control, hence my asking for reasonable means to mitigate these sorts of tragedies.
Not to be callous, but that extra warning may save lives, even if the security people get hurt/killed. That is their job, after all.
